Conductor
This 3D simulation illustrates electrostatic shielding. When a conductor has a cavity and is placed in an external electric field, the field inside the cavity remains zero (assuming no charges are inside).
Notice how surface charges rearrange to cancel any field inside the cavity. The conductor's free electrons move to create an opposing field that exactly cancels the external field within the cavity.
