Gold-Leaf Electroscope Simulator
An electroscope is a simple device used to detect electric charge. This interactive simulation demonstrates how a gold-leaf electroscope responds to charged objects. Observe how the metal leaves diverge when charged and learn the principles of electrostatics through hands-on experimentation.
How to Use This Simulator
- Click Add Positive Charge to simulate bringing a positively charged object near the electroscope (red particles appear on leaves)
- Click Add Negative Charge to simulate bringing a negatively charged object near the electroscope (blue particles appear on leaves)
- Click Reset Electroscope to return the electroscope to its neutral state
- Observe how the gold leaves diverge more as the charge increases
- The small particles represent charge distribution only on the leaves
